Dr. Dave Selewski is an Associate Professor in the Division of Pediatric Nephrology at the Medical University of South Carolina. He was born and raised in Michigan, attended Syracuse University for undergraduate and Rush Medical College in Chicago, Ill for medical school. He completed his pediatric residency training at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children Hospital and continued his training there completing a nephrology fellowship in 2011. Following fellowship training, he stayed on as faculty and received a Master’s in Clinical Research Design & Statistical Analysis from the University of Michigan School of Public Health in 2013. Dave and his partner (Laura) have a 3‐year old little girl (Charley) and two dogs (Oliver and Harley Quinn). He enjoys the outdoors, sports, spending time with his family, travelling, and poker.
Dave devotes his effort to a broad range of research, clinical, and educational activities. He enjoys mentoring and has been involved in resident education and med student education since 2011. He currently spends a third of his time at the medical school teaching pre‐clinical and clinical course. Dave’s research focuses are diverse and include neonatal AKI, AKI in critically ill children, ECMO, CRRT, patient reported outcomes, the United States Renal Data System, nephrotic syndrome and clinical trial work. Dave is an active member of a number of research groups/ multicenter collaboratives outside of the NKC including: Prospective Pediatric Acute Kidney Injury research group, Cure Glomerulonephropathy Network, CKiD study, Midwest Pediatric Nephrology Consortium, and the Kidney Interventions During Membrane Oxygenation study group.
Dave serves as a member of the NKC Steering Committee, and is actively involved in multiple NKC projects including the “Fluid Balance Papers” and the Caffeine Paper.
